My trip has become a strange sort of meme — “Are you the bottle guy?” or “Is that the bottle guy speaking?”. It’s like I’ve lost my name — and have become only a vector for a message.
My friends are finding this highly interesting in terms of ‘what peculiar or terrifying things happen next to Craig’- but we are all completely in awe of what’s happened.
My massive and eternal appreciation love goes your way — for the wonderful, moving and genuinely interesting messages I’ve received from all over the world. The motorhome got taken back today to fix the accident damage and so we said goodbye to Bertha for the last time. I’ve been contacted by 137 people from different websites, newspapers, tv shows and radio stations interested in the story. I simply couldn’t get back to everyone.
As I write this at 3:04pm, exactly one week after I set off for my journey, the story has featured on radio (UK and international), local and national press (several countries) and international online news aggregators. At one point, it was a top 3 story on the BBC UK home page. I’m sure there will be more coverage but it has been a big surprise for me, in many ways — and I’ve learned a lot.
I’ll write a full note to my detractors (and those who offered constructive criticism) later this weekend — I have listened to you both but I wish to share something useful back.
As for those ladies who wrote to me, I just wanted to reassure you that I will reply to every one of your supportive, insightful and detailed messages — it may take me a couple of days to catch up with everything.
I cried, laughed, nodded and smiled reading them — because they moved me with the feelings you expressed and the reasons that the story resonated with you.
Thank you for every one of your messages and I will be in touch soon!
Love from Craig, Simon, Marcella, Duke, Otis, Don & Coco.
